Welcome to the AmiriProject

Many young African-American males lack knowledge about medicine and/or healthcare professions. Some may be confused about the difference between a doctor and a nurse, in addition to the special roles that each profession has. Many may not have knowledge about the various specialties (i.e. psychiatry versus psychology, respiratory versus radiology) and the path to succeed in these professions. The AmiriProject helps delineate these differences. With many leading occupations being in biotechnology and medicine in the next decade, the AmiriProject seeks to illustrate the opportunities available to African American male students.
“People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become.

And they pay for it very simply; by the lives they lead.”
-James Baldwin, from ‘Nobody Knows My Name’
